This presentation will leverage real use cases, cost analyses, and best practices from O&G field telecom leaders observed globally, in the past year. Furthermore, the presentation will offer best practice tools, methodologies and suggestions to help navigate these “white waters”.

Track: Networks/Communications Infrastructures

RTUs at the Edge

Kevin Finnan, Yokogawa

Room: 361 A

Do today's emerging Internet of Things (IoT) technologies pose a threat to SCADA systems as we know them today? Do edge devices, which provide fog-based analytics to remote processes, similarly pose a threat to remote terminal units (RTUs)?

Since the industry already agrees that IoT technologies offer numerous benefits, a better question is how can users migrate their present-day SCADA systems to take best advantage of the IoT?

Track: System Architecture for Industrial Control Systems

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Building a Meaniful Cybersecurity Awareness Program

Graham Speake, Berkana Resources

Room: 351 D

Creating a cybersecurity awareness program specifically for engineers and users in the process control space is often seen as hard. However, leveraging publicly available content and harness some of the users time can result in a incredibly useful program. This session will detail how to start, where and how to get material and more importantly, how to engage the end users.

Track: Cyber Security/Physical Security

Field Area Networks Considerations in the 700 MHz Spectrum

John Yaldwyn, 4RF USA, Inc

Room: 351 E

The 700 MHz upper A Block spectrum available via private market transaction is an exciting opportunity for oil and gas, particularly as 900 MHz allocations have become increasingly scarce. Building field area network radios systems in these two previously reserved 1 MHz wide guard bands is not without challenges and effective use requires attention to a number of technical and regulatory considerations.
